01What changes in Adelaide
The South Australian EPA’s State of the Environment reporting identifies wash-down water as a stormwater pollutant and says the Environment Protection (Water Quality) Policy 2015 prohibits listed pollutants, including wash-down water and organic matter, from being deposited or discharged into stormwater.
That obligation is not satisfied merely by calling a machine water-efficient or a detergent biodegradable; the operator still needs to consider what is removed from the surface and where the wastewater will travel. Adelaide advertising should therefore qualify both water use and containment rather than sell pressure alone.
Gawler, Tea Tree Gully, Marion and Onkaparinga should only appear where travel, access and service days are genuine. Older painted or fibre-cement material must be screened before pressure or chemistry is promised.
