01Local context
The historical Brisbane delivery supports three practical campaign paths rather than one broad “electrician near me” promise. Switchboard and EV-charger messages generated the clearest ad-level contact activity in the reviewed set. Ceiling fans and lighting can sit in a planned-work path, while smoke alarms should not be presented as a proven campaign winner because the reviewed smoke-alarm creative had no reportable ad-level Lead outcome.
Theme totals overlap where an ad mentioned more than one service, so they must not be added together or treated as independent jobs. Meta also labels the platform action as a Lead; it does not verify the person, property, work required or commercial result. Queensland WorkSafe says a business carrying out electrical work for others needs an electrical contractor licence.
Its current testing guidance describes testing as electrical work and says it can generally only be performed by a licensed electrical worker, subject to limited exceptions. Electrical work on or near energised equipment is generally prohibited, so a campaign should collect a safe description without instructing someone to open a switchboard, remove a cover or perform a test.
After relevant work, Queensland distinguishes a certificate of testing and safety for electrical equipment from a certificate of testing and compliance for electrical installation work.
02Campaign and claim checks
The ad, form and quote request are none of those documents. EV-charger enquiries need another branch. Energex publishes connection options for dedicated electric vehicle supply equipment under the Queensland Electricity Connection Manual, including controlled-load and primary-tariff pathways.
A useful form can ask about the property, vehicle, parking position, existing charger, preferred charging goal and whether solar is present. It should leave switchboard capacity, supply, tariff, metering, connection and charger suitability to the electrical contractor and applicable network process. Network outages need a separate route again: Energex directs customers to its Outage Finder and has distinct emergency reporting for fallen powerlines, shocks and tingles.
That network path should appear before an ordinary property-work booking without attempting a remote diagnosis. “Free quote” and “24/7” appeared frequently in the reviewed advertising, but repetition is not substantiation. ACCC guidance says advertised claims must be accurate, truthful, based on reasonable grounds and capable of proof; fine print cannot contradict the overall message.
A Brisbane contractor should therefore publish the real quote conditions, hours, response process and exclusions. Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay and Ipswich belong in targeting only where the live roster, travel terms, licence coverage and accepted services support the same promise.
