01What changes in Melbourne
Victoria has a specific Domestic Builder limited class for bathroom, kitchen and laundry renovation. The published scope includes non-external wet-area renovation and coordinating sub-trades, but the actual practitioner registration and any limits must still be checked. Consumer Affairs Victoria explains that a person using multiple skills for domestic work over $10,000 generally needs the relevant registration, while plumbing and electrical practitioners follow their own licensing systems.
The Building and Plumbing Commission says plumbing work valued at $750 or more requires a compliance certificate from a licensed plumber, with some work requiring one regardless of value. A Melbourne campaign should therefore distinguish the renovation contract from the people performing regulated services and avoid advertising one builder number as proof of every trade.
Werribee, Craigieburn, Dandenong and Ringwood create substantial travel and scheduling differences, so consultation zones and project minimums should be genuine. Waterproofing, substrate, falls and penetrations need documented site-specific control; “like for like” does not justify promising that old work can simply remain compliant.
